East Hill Cemetery has been entered in the National Register of Historic Places on December16, 2014. A formal presentation ceremony will be held during a special ceremony at the Indiana State Fair in August 2015, specific date yet to be determined but will be announced at a later date. Everyone from Rush County is invited to attend.
This Designation is because of the hard work of Rush County Historian, Eleanor Arnold and Glory June Grieff who researched the information needed to apply in addition to completing an historical survey for the application. Others who greatly assisted in this process were:
Kathy Risselman, Co-Superintendent of East Hill Cemetery
The honorable Barbara Arnold Harcourt
and the late David Norris, past board member.
Historic Landmarks of Indiana provided much valued
funding and gave a grant to pay for one-half of the cost of the submission process.
